OPERATED BLOCKS
BPRL has two major operated blocks - one in onshore Abu Dhabi, UAE and one in onshore Cambay Basin, Gujarat, India

- ONSHORE BLOCK 1, UAE
CB-ONHP-2017/9, INDIA
Under OALP Bid Round-I, onland block CB-ONHP-2017/9 in Cambay basin was awarded to BPRL as Operator in addition to 2 other blocks as non-Operator.
Revenue Sharing Contract (RSC) of the block was signed with GoI on 1st Oct 2018. Petroleum Exploration License (PEL) and Environment Clearance (EC) for the project have been granted.
The MWP consists of Acquisition, Processing & Interpretation of 3D data, drilling of Exploratory wells and core analysis during the Initial Exploration Period.
3D seismic data surveys have been merged by BPRL and re-processed. Seismic Data Interpretation is complete and three exploratory locations were released for drilling. Land acquisition for the Exploratory Well sites is in progress.
ONSHORE BLOCK 1, UAE
The consortium of BPRL and IOCL, through a joint venture company formed by their wholly owned subsidiaries in Singapore, was awarded the Onshore Block 1 concession in Abu Dhabi through a global bidding round on 24 March 2019. The concession has a term of 35 years. The transaction marked the entry of BPRL as an Operator of overseas assets for the first time in the prospective UAE region.
Onshore Block 1 covers an area of 6,162 km2 located in the Al Dhafra region around Ruwais City and the refining complex, including the coastal region to the west. There are two existing undeveloped oil and gas fields in the area, named Ruwais and Mirfa, which are being appraised by the consortium, in addition to available prospects/leads for exploration.
The drilling and testing of two appraisal wells in Ruwais Discovery has been completed. The activities pertaining to drilling of exploration wells are in progress.
India
CY-ONN- 2002/2, Onland Cauvery basin:
ONGC is the Operator and BPRL has a PI of 40% as non-operator is currently under development and further to the commercial oil production from 2016, Gas Monetization had commenced from May 2021 but is now suspended.
CB-ONN-2010/11, Onland Cambay Basin:
Operator has initiated the tendering for procurement of goods and services which was delayed due to COVID-19.
AA-ONHP-2017/12, Onland Assam-Arakan Basin:
The Airborne Gravity Gradiometry survey, 2D and 3D seismic data acquisition have been completed in the block and 3D seismic data processing is currently in progress.
AA-ONN-2010/3, Onland Assam Arakan Basin:
Drilling activities for the committed MWP well are currently in progress.
CY-ONN-2004/2, Onland Cauvery Basin:
The first two development wells drilled as per the development plan did not yield the desired results due to which additional studies like Critically Stressed Fracture and Geo-Mechanical studies are being carried out.
Mozambique
In Mozambique, following the discovery of vast quantities of natural gas in the Rovuma Offshore Area 1 off the coast of northern Mozambique, Area 1 consortium partners announced Final Investment Decision (FID) on 18 June 2019 to develop a 2-Train (2x6.56 MMTPA) onshore initial LNG Project for monetization of gas discovered from offshore Golfinho-Atum discovery area.
With the announcement of the FID, the Golfinho-Atum Field Development Plan has become effective and Development and Production Period of 30 years has commenced.
After FID, while the project was on schedule and within budget till March 2021, due to the security incidents around the Afungi Project Site during end March 2021, the Operator has declared FM under JOA, EPCC and all other contracts as they are unable to meet their obligations to conduct safe Petroleum Operations.
The Operator has informed that there is External Military Presence in Cabo Delgado Province (CDP) from Rwanda and the Southern African Development Community. Efforts are ongoing with the Operator and Govt. of Mozambique to resolve the situation.
Area 1 Concessionaires remain committed to promptly restart once the security situation is resolved in a sustainable manner.
Brazil
Participating Interest (PI) in 5 deepwater blocks, spread across three concessions, offshore Brazil i.e. Sergipe Alagoas Basin (BM-SEAL-11), Campos Basin (BM-C-30) and Potiguar Basin (BM-POT-16).

The Field Development Plan for Barra & Farfan discoveries has been submitted to the Regulator for approval.

Arbitration process is ongoing with the Operator in view of thier breach under the JOA.

Indonesia
In Indonesia, the minimum work program has been completed. Discussions are ongoing with the Operator on the way forward in view of the low discovered resource volumes for an offshore project coupled with lack of market availability in the province.
UAE
Lower Zakum, Offshore Abu Dhabi
In 2018, Bharat PetroResources Limited (BPRL), along with ONGC Videsh and Indian Oil Corporation Limited acting jointly as the Indian Consortium were awarded 10% Stake in Lower Zakum Concession, Offshore Abu Dhabi. This is the first time that Indian oil and gas companies have been given a stake in the development of Abu Dhabi’s hydrocarbon resources. BPRL through its subsidiary has 30% stake in the SPV of the Indian Consortium that holds 10% stake in the Lower Zakum Concession. The Concession, which has a term of 40 years with an effective date of 9th March 2018, was signed on 10th February 2018. The current oil production of this field is about 330,000 bopd and Indian Consortium annual share shall be about 1.5 MMT. BPRL’s share of the equity crude has been lifted by BPCL group refineries. The cumulative lifting of FOG BV’s crude oil by BPCL group refineries till date is 18 MMbbl.
Onshore 1, Onshore Abu Dhabi
In Onshore Block 1 Concession, UAE, the drilling and testing of two appraisal wells in Ruwais Discovery have been completed. The drilling of exploration wells are in progress.
Russia
Indian consortium (IC) comprising of BPRL, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Oil India Limited (OIL), through wholly owned subsidiaries and Special Purpose Vehicles incorporated in Singapore, had acquired 29.9% equity stake in LLC Taas -Yuryakh Neftegazdobyacha (TYNGD) and 23.9% in JSC Vankorneft from M/s Rosneft, a National Oil Company of Russia, in October 2016. Currently, TYNGD is producing Oil at approx. 113 kbopd and Vankorneft is producing Oil at approx. 236 kbopd. BPRL, through SPVs of the Indian Consortium is only entitled to dividend as a shareholder in the Russia companies.
